What is the ASTM D4049 Water Washout rating of this grease, and does it contain any specific corrosion inhibitors to protect against saltwater corrosion?

Your concern about water washout and corrosion resistance in a marine environment is valid and critical. Severe duty greases are intended for this application. Ideally, an ASTM D4049 water washout rating would be available on the product data sheet. Since the product page doesn’t directly list it, you should request the technical data sheet from Lubesta. A good rating would be a low percentage loss (e.g., less than 5% loss) after the test. Also, In regards to corrosion protection, most high-performance greases designed for severe duty, particularly those marketed for marine applications, will contain corrosion inhibitors. Typical additives would include zinc compounds or sulfonates. However, specifically for salt water, some formulations also include calcium sulfonate to combat the aggressive chloride ions.
